Social Sustainable Housing
2014, Rotterdam (NL)
The start of the housing market crisis in the Netherlands has evoked a need for an alternative form real estate that can adapt to big changes in the national and local economic climate. The social sustainable residential building grants the building manager the possibility to keep his residential compley suitable to the housing market in the long run. Every floor contains "Basic Units", which enclose connection points for the wet rooms and can function autonomously, and "Additional Units", which make the basic unit suitable for larger households. Every basic unit contains an installation shaft, which makes it easier to change the layout of the wet rooms in the residence.Fifty-four house plans alternatives, fit for one to six persons, have been developed to show the possibility of this system. There is also to opportunity to transform the units into office spaces. In combination with market research and verification with GIS-analysis, it will be possible to realise municipal social urban development on shorter terms.
